Lytespan Track Lighting The sophisticated track lighting we know today was originally inspired by a simple spring-loaded pole lamp anchored between the ceiling and floor which was popular in the 1950s. Recognizing the potential of this design in 1957, Lightolier introduced a more sophisticated floor-to-ceiling lamp called Lytespan. Seeing a need for more effective overhead lighting Lightolier adapted Lytespan's innovative design for ceiling applications in 1961.
