Fall River, Mass, April 6th, 2005 - Track lighting for the 21st century: Lightolier introduces Alcyon™ track luminaires

Lightolier, the company that invented track lighting, recently unveiled the new Alcyon family of specification-grade track fixtures and accessories - the apex of 50 years of incandescent track lighting development. Combining architectural design and specification-grade performance in a complete line of fixture styles, Alcyon luminaires feature a unique lamp-forward design for easy lamp replacement, integrated cartridges that accept a variety of filters and accessories, and the smallest transformer case available in the industry.

"With the Alcyon line, we sought to directly address the needs of lighting designers and architects by combining stylish architectural design with unique user-friendly features."

The result is a complete selection of low voltage and line voltage fixtures that allows users to achieve a variety of creative lighting effects. Each fixture is suspended from a narrow, wireless blade-like stem that allows line voltage heads to rotate 365° and low voltage heads to rotate infinitely, providing maximum flexibility. The Alcyon luminaire offering includes several exclusive designs; among them, a low voltage Micro Flood fixture that produces a smooth, useful square-shaped flood of light perfect for lighting paintings or small niches in a room; and a line voltage Wall Washer that delivers a broad wash of light in a compact package, and features a unique side relamping cartridge. Most fixtures accept up to two accessories (including color and texture filters, visors, louvers, and light-shielding snoots) with no additional attachment tools required. All fixtures are compatible with the Lightolier's Lytespan® one-circuit Basic® and Radius® track, as well as Advent® two-circuit track.
