FALL RIVER, Mass., May 5, 2003—
Lightolier is launching a new generation of lighting systems that offer
vast capabilities for lighting control. Lightolier iGENTM products use ballasts
that, like computers, are uniquely addressable, have individual memory and
use microprocessors for intelligently responding to digital control messages.
In addition to intelligent ballasts, selected Lightolier iGEN fixtures incorporate
SmartVisionTM sensors that automatically dim or switch the system in response
to daylight and/or occupancy detection.
iGEN systems offer a selection of user controls. In private offices and
conference rooms, intelligent wall controllers can be easily programmed
to recall group and scene control settings saved in individual ballasts.
When connected to the computer network, individual PC users can send messages
to their assigned fixtures and adjust their workspace brightness as desired.
For simple control without the need for specific addresses, Lightolier also
offers personal dimming control using a handheld wireless remote control.
Energy managers can access the iGEN Administrator program from their PC
to establish energy-saving control strategies. By combining the iGEN dimming
and sensor control features with Administrator scheduling and load management
capabilities, iGEN systems can yield over 50 percent reductions in energy
use compared to conventional systems. Energy savings typically repay the
incremental cost of an iGEN system within 3 years.
Lightolier iGEN systems communicate using the DALI (Digital Addressable
Lighting Interface) protocol. DALI is an international standard that establishes
a common language for communication between a wide variety of lighting controllers
and equipment. All digital dimming messages that are sent from iGEN controllers
conform to this international standard, ensuring consistent dimming performance
across a wide range of products.
Lightolier is also pleased to announce that Damon Wood, CLEP, LC has been
appointed to lead this initiative as the manager of the iGEN product group.
“Our customers and our business will benefit from the integration
of smart technology into a wide range of Lightolier’s products,”
said Wood. “This technology will serve an emerging market for addressable
lighting control in offices, classrooms, conference facilities and many
other applications where the DALI-based controls can save money and improve
functionality.”
Lightolier offers project support services to complement their iGEN product
line. The iGEN project support team provides lighting and electrical layouts,
project planning, project management, system set-up, user training and technical
support.
