FALL RIVER, MA. (May 29, 2001)- Lightolier is hosting a new series of lighting systems technology seminars. These intermediate level courses are targeted to the lighting end-user, facility managers, architects, engineers, interior designers and lighting specifiers. Lightolier has registered all courses with both the American Lighting Association (ALA) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for accreditation. Date and topics are as follows.

October 1-3, 2001 Retail Spaces: This seminar, which has been registered for accreditation by both the American Lighting Association (ALA) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA), is an intermediate course on luminaire systems technology and their application in retail designs. Attendees will look at both current and suture trends in retail lighting and how these more energy efficient lighting systems using T5 fluorescent, fiber optics and high color rendering metal halide, satisfy the general lighting, display lighting and accent lighting requirements of today’s retail spaces. Issues such as fading and discoloration will also be addressed.

October 11-12, 2001 Designing with Fiber Optics: This seminar will focus on the application of fiber optic lighting systems in interior and exterior commercial, retail, residential and theme environments, as well as landscapes and waterscapes. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of fiber optic system specification and layout, along with a basic review of installation guidelines. The seminar will also include mockups and presentations of design ideas by the participants.

November 5-7, 2001 Innovative Officing: This seminar is intended for lighting specifiers, builders, contractors, developers, facility managers, architects, and interior designers. Facilitated by the product management and design staffs of both Lightolier and Steelcase, this program will focus on the design of these more functionally efficient office environments and on the lighting systems being integrated as part of the furniture, walls and ceiling, to provide sensible lighting solutions.

November 12-13, 2001 Installing Fiber Optics: This seminar will provide contractors with information and hands-on experience to handle fiber optics lighting systems installation for a wide range of interior and exterior commercial, residential, and retail applications. The program will cover the basics of designing and specifying fiber optic lighting systems as well as the integration of the system into the overall lighting control and building system.

All of these programs will be held at the Lightolier TechCenter located in Fall River, MA. Contact Earl R. Print, LC, Director of Sales Development & Lighting Education, Lightolier, 631 Airport Rd., Fall River, MA 02720.
