Principlas Duties/Responsibilities:
Champions new product design engineering and development within a cross-functional team
Generates innovative solutions to a variety of aesthetic, mechanical and thermal challenges
Collaborates with Marketing, Purchasing and Manufacturing to ensure all design objectives, cost targets and release dates are met
Advances the state-of-the-art design and engineering of our products through the exploration and application of new technology, materials and processes
Assumes additional related responsibilities as assigned
Senior Design Engineer: Individual is required to apply his/her creative talents, knowledge of design software, and a constant drive for excellence. Work is performed with minimal supervision and requires a high degree of technical expertise. In addition, individual may be called upon to supervise Associate and Design Engineers.
Design Engineer: Individual is required to apply his/her creative talents, knowledge of design software, and a constant drive for excellence. Work is performed with moderate supervision and requires a good degree of technical expertise.
Associate Design Engineer: Individual is required to apply his/her creative talents, knowledge of design software, and a constant drive for excellence. Work is performed with regular supervision and requires an average degree of technical expertise.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (Design/Mechanical Engineering or related) with at least 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Professional experience within a cross-functional team and working knowledge of materials, manufacturing and assembly processes.
Strong computer (CAD) skills, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task, while maintaining commitments in a results orientated environment
Independent and resourceful in decision making and delegating to accomplish defined goals

Desirable Qualifications:
Professional/graduate degree
Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works, Pro Engineering, HP Solid Designer, or comparable 3D software
Experience in thermal testing and analysis
Experience in basic electrical concepts
Understanding/ability in reflector/optics design and aptitude for designing complex mechanical assemblies
Experience with die casting, injection molding, sheet metal stamping, and forming processes for a variety of materials (e.g. aluminum, plastics, glass, etc.)
Knowledge of technical and electrical codes and standards
Lighting/electrical industry experience
